NURSE NUGGETS

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Greetings! It is so nice to have students back in school, buzzing around with masks on!

As you know, ASD is symptom free again this year. This means that student must stay home if feeling ill. If student comes to the nurse with any symptom that could be COVID related, we need to send your child home. You would then have the choice to get a negative COVID test, get a note from Health Care Provider that symptoms are not COVID related, or stay home for 10 days. If you receive a COVID test, please email me the results at the email below. If your child experiences any symptoms often, such as runny nose due to allergies, headaches due to lack of sleep or stress, or another issue please submit a letter from your Health Care Provider, and I won’t need to send them home. I appreciate all that you do to screen your children and keep everyone safe!

If your student has a history of allergy, anaphylaxis, asthma , seizures, or a medical condition possibly requiring medication at school, please submit the allergy and anaphylaxis care plan, asthma action care plan, seizure plan, or long term prescription medication form so that your child can be taken care of safely at school. These require your doctor’s order and signature, and your signature. You can email these to me. If you want your child to have ibuprofen, tylenol, or TUMS at school, this also requires a non prescription parent signed form at school.

I am a very strong advocate of trying to get our students vaccinated for COVID. This is the #1 defense against getting the disease or getting severely ill requiring hospitalization. Being vaccinated also means you don’t need to quarantine if you are exposed to a positive case. This will keep our children in school! If you have any questions about this, please don’t hesitate to call

Sincerely,

Kathy Seybert MSN RN NCSN
