Greetings families! It is hard to believe we are almost halfway through the 3rd quarter! We have enjoyed building on our relationships with students since the beginning of the school year.
Please check on your students’ grades frequently to make sure they are caught up. If students are absent (due to COVID, family emergency, travel, or illness) they are still expected to complete their assignments.
Progress reports have been sent home to be signed and returned. Please contact the specific teacher if you have any questions or concerns. We want our students to be successful and we are here to support them. Here’s to a strong finish for the 3rd quarter!
FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER
Language Arts
Hi there! For February, we are going to be continuing to look at what influences our choices through our SpringBoard curriculum. The SpringBoard text can be found online through Clever. Please encourage your students to take their Chrome Books and chargers home every evening, in case we have (gasp!) another snow day. (My Zoom information can be found in Canvas Announcements.) Feel free to email me (lake_noel@asdk12.org) with any questions or comments. Thank you! Sincerely, Mrs. Lake
Science
During the month of February in science, students will be closing up Unit 5: Motion and Force. Students will have a Unit Test on Monday, February 13th that will include Motion, Speed, Acceleration, and Force. We will then be constructing roller coasters using the concepts learned from this unit. --Ms. Heath
Math
All classes are finishing up a unit on Ratios. Students should have a good grasp on proportions and real world examples of rates and ratios! Next week, will be learning about converting between decimals, fractions and percents--another great real world application. - Mr. Priest
Social Studies
We are still rolling along through the North American Continent. Soon, we will be studying the cultures and geography of South America. In addition, we are looking at CLIMATES of the world as we discuss the continents. This mini-unit will include the creation of several Graphic Organizers - important tools for storing data and information about the world. -Mister Petrash
Team Wolverine Peak students should plan to bring the following items to all core classes:
3-ring binder with tabs for each class
Lined paper
Pencil
Charged Chromebook

In Mr. Gumlickpuk’s Math 8 class, students started learning how to isolate and solve linear equations. We will now work on whether the linear equation has one solution, no solution, or many solutions. In addition, we are going to work on real world problems where we see when we have one solution, no solution, or many solutions. In addition, we are going to work on using substitution and elimination to find the solution of a linear system.
In Algebra, students just finished their Unit 6 test on Linear Systems. We all finished on a strong note
We are now going to move onto Unit 5 and learn about Probability with permutations, combinations, and compound events. Additionally, we will work on mean, median, mode, and standard deviation of a data set.
