Students in fourth grade math learn many new skills including:
multidigit multiplication
multidigit division
finding equivalent fractions
operations with fractions
converting between fractions and decimals
Currently, I support student learning with the Ready Math curriculum. We also use iReady tutoring software to provide individualized learning pathways for all students. Both ReadyMath and iReady can be accessed by students through their Clever portal.
Students entering fourth grade math are expected to have the following pre-requisite skills:
memorization of basic addition, subtraction and multiplication facts to the 12s
be able to use regrouping in basic addition and subtraction problems
be able to read, write, and order numbers to three places
be able to count up and down by 1s, 10s, 100s
identify odd and even numbers
be able to round numbers to the nearest ten
If your child does not have these skills, please plan to work on these daily above and beyond the normal math class and homework. Let me know if you need resources to help.
