Born in Whakatane, New Zealand, I grew up in Maine, USA. I received a BA in Design from Otago University in New Zealand, spending a semester abroad at Falmouth University in Cornwall, England. Before becoming a therapist, I travelled extensively, lived on my ancestral land in New Zealand, and worked for a non-profit day program for adults with intellectual uniqueness in Portland Maine.
I completed my Master of Social Work at the University of New England. Elected as the School of Social Work Senator, I also attained certificates in Arts and Social Justice and from the Interprofessional Education Collaborative. I received the Training in Aging and Diversity Grant and also maintained a 4.0GPA. During my education I worked internships as a school social worker at an inner city elementary school, day program coordinator for adults with severe mental illness, and therapist at a high school and outpatient clinic.
Post-graduation I completed training to become a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist Individual (CCTS-I) through the Trauma Institute International. I worked as a Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral (TF-CBT) therapist at a non-profit serving survivors of trauma and abuse. I am currently working as a therapist and eating disorder specialist for a nationwide agency specializing in treating eating disorders.
My practice is informed by books such as The Body Keeps the Score, Attached, Intuitive Eating, and Health at Every Size. I completely love what I do, and also enjoy surfing, dancing, cooking, hiking, yoga, and painting. I am excited to help clients in my private practice reconnect to the present, achieve their goals and discover just how amazing they have always been!
