General Homework Expectations
Students who are absent have two days for every day they were absent to complete missed assignments. (For example, if a student missed 2 days of class, they have a four day extension from the day they get back. If they missed Thursday and Friday last week, then their homework from Thursday and Friday are due the following Thursday). Students should take initiative and come to ask me if they missed anything, and any handouts from the day they missed can be found in their folder upon their return.
Homework is completed carefully and intentionally. Every problem is attempted.
Work is shown on all problems completed.
Students ask questions about problems that they find challenging and bring questions to class.
If you want to improve your Math Skills this spring!
Get quick with your math facts by doing math drills. It may not be easy, but focus on the ones that challenge you most ( My personal favorite Math Facts Resource is online and can be found here)
Practice Daily. Try a daily logic puzzle to work on your problem solving ability.
Work on breaking problems into managable parts. Practice tracking through the solutions to multi-step problems (even if those problems are just ones around the house!)
Parents: Encourage your students to problem-solve on their own. If they ask you how to do something, don't answer right away. Ask them to figure out a couple of steps that they can take to solve that problem on their own.
