ABOUT ME
Although I am not a native, I have spent half my life in the beautiful state of Colorado! I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Mathematics with an emphasis in Education. I have spent the last 4 years teaching at a public middle school in the Douglas County School District. I have a passion for serving the youth and igniting wonder while exploring the world of mathematics. I am beyond thrilled to partake in the mission of Ascent Classical Academy to train the minds and improve the hearts of young people. When I am not teaching, I enjoy exploring the outdoors, running, playing ultimate frisbee, dancing, reading, doing art, and spending time with my family and friends.
EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY
It is my great joy and honor to help students learn the true, do the good, and love the beautiful. In my classroom, students will not only learn the mathematical concepts but will learn how to think like a mathematician. In doing so, students will be able to dive deeper into the origins of these mathematical concepts and discover the beauty hidden within mathematics.

what is your favorite book?
My favorite book is Severe Mercy by Sheldon Vanauken. It tells a beautiful story of one's search for love, faith, friendship and fulfillment. The book exemplifies a life of one who strives to live virtuously, but also identifies mistakes that can be learned from. Sheldon is a an inspiring witness one who searches for the truth, even when it requires humility, and never stops wondering and hoping, despite tragedy.
What is your favorite subject?
My favorite subject growing up was math, but I also really enjoyed science and art. I loved to see the application of mathematics in the sciences as a tool to make sense of the world around us. I also loved being able to express my thoughts, emotions, and ideas in the form of art. My favorite art median is acrylic paints.
What do you Appreciate about ascent?
I greatly value Ascent's pursuit of the True, the Good, and the Beautiful. I love that Ascent's mission is to develop the whole person and inspire students to achieve the highest good and be all they were created to be... How dignifying! I care deeply about my students, and not just academic successful, but their whole being- mind, body, and soul.
What is your favorite Game?
I love all types of games from sports to board games. I play Ultimate Frisbee competitively and my favorite board game is Settlers of Catan.
