5th Grade Music

What we are covering:

Students are going to learn about the staff and note names, solfege, and instruments of the Renaissance. We will also be singing songs and listening to music and instruments of the Renaissance. 

Important Dates and Assignments

The Student-Parent-Teacher agreement is due on or before Sept. 8th. 

What we are covering

Students will learn how to read notes, about instruments of the Renaissance period, and begin practicing for their winter musical. 

Important Assignments

Students will have a variety of worksheets to complete in order to practice their note naming skills. These worksheets will be completed in class and will only be homework if they are absent. 

What we are covering 

Students are learning about naming notes, practicing their winter musical, and learning about composers of the Renaissance. 

Important Assignments

Students will have a sight singing test in early November. 

Students will have a note naming quiz in early November

Students will have a test over their notes in the lines and spaces, as well as leger line notes before Thanksgiving Break. 

What we are covering 

Students will be focusing on their winter musical. They will need to memorize all of their songs as well as the motions that come with it. We will be rehearsing the musical during the school day. Information about what students will need to wear for the concert will be posted on my website and sent out via email as we get closer. 

Important Dates

The 5th and 6th grade winter musical will be on Tuesday, Dec. 12th from 5:30 to 6:30pm. We ask that all students participating in the musical be at the school and in the gym no later than 5:15.
