Ascend Advance Academy is a registered member and authorized affiliate of the United States Chess Federation (USCF). We proudly operate the Long Island ChessKids Club, dedicated to promoting chess competitions and instruction for children of all ages and levels.
Our mission is to nurture logical thinking and advanced calculation skills through a structured chess curriculum. We emphasize helping students discover the joy of chess, developing their minds through strategic competition, multi-dimensional thinking, and strong problem-solving abilities.

Course Levels and Structure
Classes are tailored to match each child’s mental maturity, language skills, and chess experience.
Basic Group: Levels 0–2
In-person small group classes (Syosset, NY 11791)
Focus: Introduce young learners to chess fundamentals and spark their interest through engaging multimedia lessons. Students learn basic rules, essential opening patterns and principles, simple middlegame strategies, and endgame concepts.
Level 0 (Beginner): No prior chess knowledge required. Suitable for children ages 5 and up who can think independently and communicate in English.
Levels 1–2 (Foundations): For students who understand the basic rules, can play a complete game independently, and wish to learn chess systematically.
Intermediate & Foundation Group: Levels 3–5
Coached by National Master-level instructors
Our highly accomplished chess masters have reached exceptional competitive heights through years of dedicated training and now share their expertise with passion and insight. Classes encourage deep thinking and strategic analysis using puzzles, problem-solving competitions, and tournaments. Each session includes personalized game analysis to help students identify areas for improvement effectively.
Advanced Group: Level 6+
Private or semi-private lessons (1-on-1 or 1-on-2)
Coached by International Masters and Grand Masters
Tailored instruction focusing on advanced strategies, detailed understanding of diverse openings, middlegame tactics, and complex endgame scenarios. Lessons include thorough post-game analyses to reinforce learning and translate classroom concepts into practical mastery.
Class Features
Maximum of eight students per class.
Small-group, interactive sessions conducted via Zoom for remote learners.
A balanced approach combining core theory, live games, and detailed post-game reviews.
Multi-angle support to help each student build a deeper understanding of chess.
