All pupils in S2 will have a single period of Business per week, covering Level 3 outcomes.
Pupils will build on the knowledge gained from S1 Enterprise, and will be introduced to international trade, and the functional areas of business.
Pupils will extend the basic business knowledge developed in S1 by looking at each functional area of business in a little more detail. Pupils will learn about:
The functional areas of business
Business location
Finance (sources of finance and budgets)
Human resources (skills/qualities, recruitment, equality legislation, CVs)
Operations (methods of production, quality)
Marketing (branding, promotion)
External factors (environmental, political)
Fair trade
To check understanding, pupils will have several progress checks throughout this unit. Progress checks are designed to show where pupils are in their learning, and what they need to revise in order to improve understanding.
In addition, pupils will have a written report to complete for the fair trade element of this course.
Pupils will have a general introduction to international trade, and cover many different topics, such as:
Imports and exports
Barriers to trade
Exchange rates
Developed and less developed countries
Promoting Scotland via a website (created using Google sites)
