Welcome to the Mearns Academy Course Choice Information Site. We hope that you find the information contained in the site a useful addition to the course choice process. Please take the time to look through the relevant sections for each year-group as well as the pages covering FAQs and Careers Advice. 

Choices 2025-26

All pupils will be given a Course Choice Input in PSE as well as the offer of a 1:1 Course Choice Appointment with their Guidance Teacher should it be required. Parents will be offered the chance to join these 1:1s.

In addition to this the following staff are also available to support: 

• Class Teachers and Faculty Heads

• Careers Adviser - Available for appointments and for general queries.

Overview of process
For each year-group the majority of the process will take place over a two week window. A general overview of what this will involve is given below:

• PSE input on course choice.

• Pupils issued a provisional choice form for completion.

• 1:1 Guidance appointments to discuss choices if required.

• Choices finalised and sent to parents/carers for confirmation. 

As mentioned above, while the majority of choices will be completed over the course of a two week window, we appreciate that some pupils will require more support with their choices and so we will be flexible with timelines where required.

Key dates for each choice window is given below: 

S5 into S6: Mon 27th Jan - Fri 14th Feb 

S4 into S5: Mon 27th Jan - Fri 14th Feb

S3 into S4: Mon 17th Feb - Fri 28th Feb

S2 into S3: Mon 24th Feb - Fri 8th March
