SQA Examinations 2024
The booklet opposite will be made available to all young people taking SQA examinations in the 2024 session prior to the Easter holidays. It contains everything they need to know about examinations they will sit in April and May 2024.

To explain the Senior Phase in Scotland Education Scotland is our national education agency and you may the following link a good starting point:
Our national exams body is called the SQA (Scottish Qualifications Authority) and you can access their website here. You can also sign up, as a parent, for updates from them which can be useful closer to exam time and a specific page for parents can be found here.
In terms of applying for university in the UK that goes through a body called UCAS and you can access their website which is a brilliant resource for young people and parents alike.
Beyond that, at Mackie Academy, we have our Senior Phase Pathways Information (S4-S6) that contains everything you should need to know about courses, their structures and how they are assessed here at Mackie Academy.
In addition to this our Developing our Young Workforce site contains lots of information about how young people can access experiences around pathways they may be considering in the future. Our DYW team is led by Mrs Lucy Angel so if you require any further advice on this she would be the person to contact.
In addition to this students and parents can access support from Skills Development Scotland around advice for future pathways and students can have an individual appointment with our advisors in school alongside support that they will access throught their Personal and Social Education lessons.

Coursework to return for Scotland's learners in 2023-24
Following discussions with the National Qualifications Strategic Group and SQA’s Advisory Council, which draws its membership from across the education community, and a large-scale evaluation of awarding in 2022, most National Qualifications assessment requirements are set to return for the coming year.
This will benefit learners by:
giving them the chance to fully demonstrate their learning through both coursework and exams
ensuring they have a fuller understanding of the whole course
enabling them to apply their skills in practice and consolidate their learning to support progression to college, university, employment or training
