In this project, you will create an image in Pop Art style using adjustments and filters
Pop art is a style of art based on simple, bold images of everyday items, such as soup cans, painted in bright colors. Pop artists created pictures of consumer product labels and packaging, photos of celebrities, comic strips, and animals.
Andy Warhol was a U.S. artist famous for his paintings of Campbell Soup cans and portraits of celebrities. This artwork resembles the mass-produced, printed advertisements by which Warhol was inspired, but the canvases are hand-painted,
Picture from an Image Library that was edited using the Adjust and Effect tools.
Open PIXLR X and search for a portrait (any portrait that you like) in the Image Library.
Duplicate the initial layer.
With the new layer selected, open the ADJUST panel and choose "Color"
Use the HUE slider to change the colors of the image to your liking. It's common for Pop Art style to use bold and contrasting colors.
Use the SATURATION slider to adjust colors.
Under the "Light" menu, try using EXPOSURE and CONTRAST sliders to add more effect.
You may also like the GRAIN option to add up a more vintage look.
Using the EFFECT panel, you can colorize the image to make it look even more like Pop Art style. Try other effects and filters as you wish to increase the impression.
Finally, you can create multiple versions of the same image in various colors (see the Marylin Monroe portraits by Andy Warhol).
There are much more options to create a very stylish-looking PopArt portrait in Pixlr E, which has more filters and adjustments. You can do it additionally if you wish to earn extra credit.
Once you are done with this project, you need to save it to your computer and email me the final version at semash@staracademyboston.com
