Glenda grew up with an artist mother and inventor father. She studied art history and painting with mom and learned to work with her hands early. From winning a Halloween poster contest in the 5th grade to becoming an established graphics professional in several fields including advertising and publishing to independent video production. Along the way, Glenda continued to sketch and paint, producing her art in various mediums for an appreciative audience. From charcoal anatomical studies to seascapes in oils and now acrylics. Her work includes designing jewelry and crafting large underwater mosaics.
For aerospace engineers and scientists, she created and published Space Dimensions magazine during the moonshot era. In North Carolina, she created and published Look at Western North Carolina, a bi-monthly visitor guide that became a favorite at hotels and Welcome Centers. She also holds copyright to an anatomical horse poster (above) in use by schools and colleges, including the University of Maryland School of Veterinary Medicine.
As a lover of woods, fields, streams, the sea, sun and sky, moving to western North Carolina several years ago was the right decision for this adventurous outdoor gal. Glenda brings her love of their colors and sensations to all her work. Currently waiting for a knee replacement, she stays busy at her studio in Union Mills, North Carolina, and looks forward to a showing of her new collection in Asheville next year.
