The Math Kangaroo Teams Competition is a 60 minute multiple-choice test of 30 questions that teams of 2-4 students work together to solve. Collaborations is allowed within each team only, only one device per team is allowed to submit answers. The designated captain of each team confirms answers with the team before submission. This is the very first year Math Kangaroo Teams Competition is being offered.
The Math Kangaroo Teams Competition is open to all grade levels from 1-12. Kindergarteners are welcome to participate at the grade 1 level. A team competes in the division of its highest-grade member (e.g., if the oldest student is in 5th grade, the team plays in Division 5–6). While students in adjacent grades take the same level test (e.g., Level 5-6 for Grades 5 and 6), results are ranked separately by grade. Accordingly, a team with a 5th grader as the oldest student will be ranked with Grade 5 teams, not with Grade 6 teams.
