Reference Sorter

As a way of familiarising myself with the various bodies of literature that were relevant to my study, I  saved the references, along with their abstracts and keywords, in a Google Sheet  and devised a "Sorter" mechanism to help me see  how they all related to each other. This involved creating columns for the different themes/ search terms (in this case, they were: overview, social justice, capabilities, UK context, sanctuary,  online and engagement), and then marking each reference according to theme. The outcome is that if you sort the sheet according to Column B (Social Justice), all the references that address the theme of social justice will appear at the top of the sheet. Feel free to download the spreadsheet and play around with the "sort" function to organise items according to the different categories in the left-hand columns if you want to try it out.
