The boundary between
There are numerous conflicts on earth. Environmental issues, political opinions, racism, feminism, war, and other countless issues are embedded in our daily life. This chaos is created by human beings, and the world is crowded with people. Thus, a space that is isolated from the real world would be preferable for resting oneself from the chaos. An imagination “utopian” world that one may hope to live in, quiet and peaceful will be created.

Artist Statement
In the work The boundary between I want to explore the idea of contrast. As an artist, I like to find tranquil between distinction. Through the relationship between chaos and calm, and the contrast between the natural and artificial world, as well as the aesthetic found within the contradiction.
The boundary between will be composed of a plain white room with a white tree in the centre, and a white wooden window that viewers may see the striking red color outside the room. Color white will be the main color in this project. White walls, white trees, and white wooden window bars. Looking out from the window, the redness from outside heave in sight. The redness outside the window is the chaos and noise from the real world, and it is a huge contrast with the pure, empty, and tranquil white space that only has an old and large white tree. As I mentioned, this work is about contrast between chaos and tranquil. Thus, the elements need to be contradictory both from the textural aspects and conceptual perspectives. In this work, the room is the peaceful space for one to relax, and the contradicting red is the mess and chaos. Although I want to create the contrast between elements, I also want the work to show a harmonious aesthetic. Therefore, I use the color white to connect each material and create harmony for this work as well as emphasize the difference.
In all my conceptual sculptures and paintings pieces, I explore my Chinese identity and the aesthetic of contrast between subjects. I also use fundamental techniques to create the difference between materials and ideas, as well as the aesthetic I found within the distinction.
