The Center for Art Convergence aims to create new values through artistic methodologies in a time when various fields of art, society, culture, science, and technology intersect and connect. The Center for Convergence Arts conducts three programs: research, education, and creation, with a focus on "media as a convergence of art, technology, and culture" and a multifaceted approach.
The Center for Art Convergence chose "Playful Media" as its research theme for 2019. Media provides 'play' that goes beyond the appreciation of art and actively experiences and participates in the artist's world. Play is based on the understanding (acceptance) of a world of rules, which leads to derivation and diffusion. The derived results become the basis for further creation. Playful media goes beyond being a conduit or tool to mediate human activity (play), and functions as a cultural space that penetrates all dimensions.
Based on this theme, the Center for Art Convergence has conducted various programs, including educational research to form a critical attitude in the future generation's acceptance of media, on-campus and off-campus networking programs, educational programs to understand the mechanism of data collection and propose solutions to social problems, and production-type programs to support emerging artists' experimental interpretation and creation of themes.
