In the fall of 2016, the Center for Art Convergence at Korea National University of Arts will host the first lecture program, Sense Your Positions. The program will examine research-based art, critical media practice, and research/planning as a creative activity. Each talk will explore the spaces and places we claim to understand.
The world cannot be seen in isolation from human ways of being. Thus, bodies emerge that encounter places, walk into places, create places, move from place to place, and even pass through non-places that are nothing more than locations. On the other hand, various material and immaterial objects in which life and culture are gathered or connected are also interpreted as places. The body, including the voice, also becomes a place. Finally, questions are shared about contemporary artworks and activities that simulate the world, create places, or connect places.
