<Convergence Art Content Interactive Art Creator Training Project>
Art Collider Lab participated in the <Convergence Art Content Interactive Art Creator Training Project> as a planning partner. In this project, 13 mentors and 26 mentees (including 2 with impairments and 24 without impairments) were matched . Each mentor worked with two mentees, conducting mentoring sessions twice a week, three hours each, over the course of 25 weeks. Additionally, four collective lectures, workshops, and pitching sessions were held. The outcomes of the mentees' education were presented at the "Boundless Sensations: The Meeting of Senses" outcome presentation.
Program Objectives:
1. Expanding the Sphere of Creative Activities of Artists with Impairments:
As digital technology advances, there is an increasing effort to create new dimensions of viewing experiences in various art genres. In this context, enhancing the media literacy of artists is more critical than ever. Contemporary artists need to comprehend new technologies and media, incorporating them critically into their artistic expression. However, artists with impairments often find it challenging to access systematic opportunities for developing their creative potential or to acquire education in this field. The <Convergence Art Content Interactive Art Creator Training Project>, which includes participants with and without impairments, aimed to expand the creative areas of artists in both groups, fostering social empathy and diversity. The program developed tailored mentoring methodologies for participants with impairments and provided mentoring that encompassed various methodologies, including participatory education, self-directed research, and collaborative teamwork.
2. Developing 'Barrier-Free' Media Art Content:
While traditional art viewing involved spectators observing artworks from a predefined distance within a designated space, recent interactive media art exhibitions feature works presented in diverse settings, encouraging active viewer participation. These artworks engage multiple senses, allowing audiences to experience them in different ways and facilitating interaction with various objects through the artworks. In this project, we conducted mentoring on the production of interactive art content that actively utilized tactile senses, and implemented visual audification or auditory visualization. The results were showcased at the barrier-free media art exhibition, creating a cultural and artistic space that transcended the boundaries of impairments. Furthermore, we aimed to improve awareness of impairments through the creative activities of artists with impairments and expand the rights to arts and culture enjoyment of every ndividual by promoting their participation in arts and culture.
Outcome Presentation 《감각의 비경계: 맞닿은 세계》
《감각의 비경계: 맞닿은 세계》was presented as an interactive media art exhibition that invited visitors to engage with a multisensory experience. Featuring the work of 25 participating artists, the exhibition showcases a journey of dismantling the boundaries of perception, creating a connected world in various ways, and going from the confines of sensory limitations to boundless horizons.
In the first section, <Encounter>, participants could meet others who moved and communicated in synchrony. <Sense>, the second section, encouraged an understanding of others' lives and emotions through shared sensory experiences. <Collide>, the third section, prompted contemplation of our society and the emotions we share. Lastly, in the fourth section, <Coexist>, questions arose about the meaning of 'togetherness' within our differences.
Through this journey, diverse sensations were exchanged, allowing a glimpse into each other's worlds. Everyone took time to ask questions proactively in a world where boundaries disappear.
