Team UNIT is a group of artists from diverse backgrounds sharing a communal interest in music. Hwanhee Kim who is leading the team is studying in the Department of Fine Arts at the Korea National University of Arts and has worked extensively on various artistic experiments across painting, video, media art, and performance. Specifically, he is exploring the possibility of a new interaction with computers by expanding his continued interest in music. Seokwoo Han graduated from the Department of Composition at the School of Music at the Korea National University of Arts and is practicing under the stage name “Guinneissik.” He applies elements of classical music to a wide range of electronic genres such as club tunes, live sets, etc. He organized <Why They Don’t Sing>, a performance that blends visual arts and music, at the complex cultural space Gongsangondo on November 21, 2020.

<"meet me at 1.048596 :)"> started from the failed experience of playing ensemble on Zoom due to the time lag in the internet connection. This work interprets the confusion that digital media causes in a fun way. <"meet me at 1.048596 :)"> changes the music by collecting visitors’ information from “under the stage” before entering the exhibition room, and then “on the stage” after entering, and visualizes changes in the music. With “Under the stage,” visitors can create their own melody and audiovisual from their answers to the given questions as data. But with “On the stage,” visitors can browse the melodies and the audiovisuals other visitors left before them and make changes to them by moving their bodies. This process demonstrates the experience of playing an ensemble having a time gap with the former visitors. Through this ensemble playing, visitors can enjoy a visual and auditory experience.
