Jaeyi Gong X Minjae Im is a media art group composed of musician Jaeyi Gong and illustrator Minhae Im. They have worked with various digital media such as music, video, and algorithm art to interpret contemporary society. They exhibited the audiovisual work <existential circus>, depicting the modern people going through multiple crises caused by the advance of technology, at WeSA Festival 2020:19, KEAMS: fest-m 2020 and PRECTXE 2020: Duplicate your Dream. 

<uncanny symmetry> 

<uncanny symmetry> is a media installation work using AI. It is an interactive sound work which questions the gap between us and personas reconstructed with our data. Visitors are required to communicate with the AI that copies a human’s personality and transfers it to the clone in the next generation. The AI asks visitors to enter their introduction sentence and visitors submit their answer. This process is continuously repeated while the AI generates new information about the visitor and makes the visitor’s self-judgment muddy and visitors end up losing the original “themselves.” Under this circumstance, visitors get to think over how their persona is formed and what it means and look into the consciousness that constitutes us.
