<Liquidis> is a VR work using brain wave recognition and emotion classification algorithms. It needs two players (viewers) and each player wears an HMD VR, sets up a custom mask reflecting their character and has a conversation with a partner. While having a voice conversation, each player can detect changes on the mask by the 4 kinds of emotion indicators and experience various visual effects according to the partner’s empathy rate. This way, players form a special bond after coming to realize the emotional status they have not recognized and the partner’s mood which was not revealed outwardly. These works were conceived by the artist’s interest in the “conversation and communication method of humans, and the technology in them.” It visualizes the interaction in the course of the conversation by expanding the physical senses through machines (VR and brain wave processing unit) that process human electrical signals (brain waves).
