The 2021 <Art Creation Support> is composed of three parts: ➀ Art Creation Education (mentoring), ➁ Art Creation Grant, ➂ Art Creation Exchange. It aims to address the discourses relevant to contemporary convergence art and support art creations in line with it.
The theme of 2021 was “Persona,” a Latin word which refers to the “mask” that stage actors/actresses wear and from which the English words “person” and “personality" originated. The psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung once said, “Human has a thousand personas so that they wear an appropriate mask depending on the circumstances and make relationships.” Humans create their persona as a compromise between their individuality and society and here, persona serves as a medium that helps humans adapt to the situation and environment they face. Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, we have confronted the sudden changes in creating a contactless society. While advanced technology brought us the possibility of a new environment connecting the reality and virtual world, we are still confused between the established order and the expected transition to the future. Based on the emerging phenomenon “multi-persona” stemming from the new environment “metaverse” in the contemporary society, the Center for Art Convergence and Art Collider Lab strive to discover and support an innovative range of artistic interpretations and practices.
