The first Best of WW Medal was awarded in 2016 by the ARHS class of 2028.
The Best of Wildwood Award began that same year. Only kids were (and still are) allowed to vote. Up until 2021, only Kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade students could vote. In 2022 our 3rd grade classes created the judging criteria and opened the voting to all grade levels K- 6.
The Caldecott Award is given each year by the American Library Association to the most distinguished picture book for children.
Best of Wildwood invites our students to evaluate picture books based on criteria that they determine. See the slideshow below for the student created criteria.
