In 2015 - 2016 Wildwood students were outraged that the Caldecott Committee was (and still is) only made up of adult judges. They decided they needed to do something about it!
In 2015 - 2016 Wildwood students were outraged that the Caldecott Committee was (and still is) only made up of adult judges. They decided they needed to do something about it!
The Best of Wildwood Award began that same year. Only kids were (and still are) allowed to vote. Up until 2021, only Kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade students could vote. Our 3rd grade classes create the judging criteria and this year they have decided to let all grade levels vote.

A library serves to empower students so that they are encouraged to ask questions, look for answers and work toward a understanding how information is organized physically and within a digital space.
In the Wildwood Library we have a dual focus:
Love of READING and STORY! The first half of the school year is devoted to interacting with great stories, picture books, short stories, chapter books and audio.
Asking QUESTIONS and finding answers! The second half the school we concentrate on where to find things in the library (in the physical space and online resources).
