Amherst Elementary School Garden Program

We believe in the power of garden-based learning to inspire joy and help build a more just and sustainable world.

In our schools and larger community, we create spaces and experiences for children to cultivate wonder, understanding, and agency through the exploration of nature, food, community, and culture.

The school gardens grow on the ancestral lands of the Norwottuck people, who are part of the Pocumtuc Confederacy, and part of the Algonquin Nation.

This knowledge provides an essential lens through which we approach our teaching and learning.

We are actively working to center this in our program.
