Uniform
Students are ambassadors for the College and are expected to wear their uniform with pride. The students are encouraged to understand that the uniform identifies them as members of the Arndell College Community. Encouraging your children to value their uniform will prove helpful in developing the high personal standard.
The College hat is an essential element of the uniform for all Junior School students. Year 2 students must wear a hat before school, at recess, lunch play and during outdoor lessons at school. Students are also required to wear the Arndell sport socks with a red and blue stripe for sport and PE sessions. These can also be purchased from the Uniform Shop. We would reiterate the need to have all uniform and personal items clearly named. Please see further information in the General Information Tab in regards to Uniform.
Homework
Homework is intentionally planned to align with the teaching and learning occurring in class. It provides an excellent opportunity for students to consolidate their learning and skill development. Homework will run on a weekly cycle from Monday to Friday.
A Homework Grid will be accessible via Seesaw and a hard copy taken home each Monday. Maths Homework remains at home and is completed during the week and can be uploaded to Seesaw on Friday. Reading is to be done daily. There will be a spelling test on most Fridays.
We reiterate the need for reading practice to be consistent and encourage parents to make it an enjoyable experience. Two to three home readers will come home on Monday to be returned on Friday.
Information Technology
The College’s commitment to the iPad one to one initiative, provides an exciting opportunity for learning. Students in K-2 students utilise Applications to reinforce concepts explored in class and to publish their work. There are very strict guidelines and policies in place for using any technological devices provided by the school and these can be found in the General Information tab.
Student Personal Phones/Devices
We understand that some students will require a personal device for before and after school arrival procedures. At the beginning of each day, students will be asked to switch off and hand their phone to their class teacher who will keep the phone safe for the day. Students will then receive their phone at the end of the day and will have a short period of time to confirm any changes to afternoon routines before promptly putting their phones back into their bags. No student should be using their phone on the playground at any time. Students with "smart" watches will need to ensure connected devices are off and messaging features disabled during the school day.
