HONORARY BOARD MEMBER
Luke McCarthy is a dedicated public servant with more than 25 years of firefighting experience and a profound commitment to community safety and well-being. Now in his 20th year with the Clark County Fire Department, he has served in numerous critical roles, including assignments on the Las Vegas Strip, the Haz-Mat Team, and McCarran International Airport. His career spans three major metropolitan areas, beginning in Atlanta and later extending to Arlington County. As a passionate advocate for first responders, McCarthy has held leadership positions within the International Association of Firefighters and has played a vital role in strengthening relationships between elected officials and the firefighting community. He also co-founded the Metropolitan Atlanta Fire Emerald Society and the First Responder Franchise Initiative, both of which support professional growth and entrepreneurial opportunities for first responders.
McCarthy’s commitment to community service is equally extensive. He has served as a board member for Nevada Child Seekers and is an active member of several organizations, including the NRA and NAACP. His deep understanding of local needs and strong community ties position him as a leader focused on meaningful and lasting change. Academically, McCarthy holds a B.A. in Political Science from Trinity College in Connecticut, a B.S. in Fire Science Administration from the University of Maryland—where he earned Dean’s List honors—and an M.S. in Crisis and Emergency Management from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He has also completed additional coursework in Criminal Justice and Fire Service from multiple institutions.
Beyond his professional life, McCarthy is a devoted father of two daughters and is deeply passionate about improving healthcare access in Nevada, a cause motivated by his personal experiences with cancer. He lives a well-balanced life with his wife, Jennifer, whom he first met while she was working as a barista.
