MASC stands for the Massachusetts Association of Student Councils. This organization is comprised of 4 regions; WMASC (Western Mass), CDMASC (Central District of Mass), NEMASC (Northeastern Mass), and SEMASC (Southeastern Mass). AHS Student Council is a part of NEMASC! Every spring, we send delegates to represent AHS at the MASC conference.
The Excellence Binder is a giant report of Student Council accomplishments, reflections, and ideas. It is a literal binder that documents the entire year, and every MASC StuCo can submit one. It is important to use for reflection on events, their successes, and how they connect to the goals of MASC. Events and indicators are evaluated at the MASC conference through the Binder and tallied in points. These points can earn a Student Council a Gold Council of Excellence, Silver Council of Excellence, or Bronze Council of Excellence Plaque. At the 2025 MASC conference, AHS won the Gold Council of Excellence Plaque!
Arlington High School sends Student Council delegates to represent our school at the MASC conference to present our Excellence Binder for awards, get inspiration to improve our council, and attend workshops and keynotes to build leadership skills. We also fundraise and participate in the Polar Plunge for the Massachusetts Special Olympics!
