Brackett Virtual Science Fair

Unfortunately schools were closed before this year's STEM Night and Science Fair could happen.

But students worked on their projects anyway!

Enjoy these projects by Brackett's 4th and 5th graders.

Annika and Hattie show us how to ripen an avocado.

This is very useful information for me!

Cara, Nate, and Zoe did a fabulous job showing how long it takes food coloring to "solidify" in different liquids.

You can see their surprising results in this slideshow.

Claire tested the energy consumption of small home appliances.

She discovered that the appliances that produced heat used were the least energy efficient. And that her TV used the most energy when it was off. I will have to check my own TV now.

Elizabeth and Lily explored the effects that different liquids have on teeth.

It was surprising to me that they got different results when comparing Coke and Diet Coke.

Liliana investigated the intriguing question of "Do Dogs have a Dominant Paw".

Her results make me want to check out more dogs and investigate further!

James wanted to find out what materials protect eggs the best.

His results make me wonder if we should rethink our egg cartons. You can see them for yourself by reading his slideshow.

Whylan project looks super fun!

He compared how far a projectile could go using air pressure, coke and mentos and baking soda and vinegar. I enjoyed reading his thoughtful conclusion.
