OMG is the Ottoson Media Group. Created ten years ago, the group partners with ACMI, the local TV channel: http://acmi.tv/.
Description: We are interested in recruiting students serious about the job at hand and willing to form a professional camera crew and to work with professional equipment as well as personal cameras, smartphones or iPads. We provide training through various professional workshops all year long (topics may include how to use a professional camera, writing for news, iPhones 101, stop-motion animation and more). The club is also trained in script writing and interview skills. This year, a lot of the projects will have to do with the 100th year anniversary of the Ottoson.
Before the pandemic the group would film six to eight episodes of the cooking show, eight concerts , one musical, a few school assemblies, and more.
We look forward to seeing you at our meetings! We film from time to ACMI Studio A located at 85 Park Avenue We walk there as a group right after school. We dismiss students at 4:30-5:00 pm pm instead of 4:00 pm to have more time to work on our projects.
We also have a green room in the Media Center and ACMI brings equipment to the students to familiarise them with filming, editing, and directing.
We expect students to be on their best behavior while working on the program because they are representing their school. They will have occasion to film and interview important people, town officials, Arlington residents and more. So we are expecting students to work hard and be serious about their work.
All students who participate to ONN /OMG need to bring the general ACMI video release form signed by their parent/guardian, soo we can release the video we make to the public. Sometimes if we participate to a contest like the A-Town teen video Contest, students will be asked to bring specific contest permission too! We are sorry for the hassle.
Students in band or orchestra also use the same permission slip. So if they are also part of ONN they don't have to sign the permission again.
This show was a team co-production including our two host of French in the Kitchen, Francoise Matte and Cecile Penot-Dietrich, two anchors and a crew of four students from the Ottoson Media Group, plus two producers (ACMI/OMG). Check the Teens Cook page on acmiI.tv . Click on Watch, then on Teens Cook, and enjoy the first three seasons of the show. Due to the pandemic, our hosts had to close their business. But it still gives viewers an idea about the type projects we can can produce
Concerts
We are currently waiting on the calendar from the Arlington schools performing Arts department. When we get the official date we will input the date for the 2021-2022 season.
The students filming are expected to stay after school. They meet with ACMI around 3:00 pm. They bring all the equipment in the Wood Gym (where most Ottoson events take place. We set set-up all the equipment together, then we eat as a group (we feed students except if they have food allergies, then they bring their own lunch box). We also provide water during filming. It's a long day but it's very rewarding. It creates link between crew members that will last way beyond their stay at OMS). Students should be picked up by the end of the concerts or filming sessions.
