Here, you’ll find resources, learning opportunities, and a network of colleagues who share a dedication to high-quality, culturally responsive interpreting. We believe in fostering connection, professional growth, and a sense of belonging—because interpreters deserve a place where their work is understood, valued, and supported.
Our website is still under development, and we’re actively building out more tools, information, and ways to engage. We appreciate your patience and invite you to check back often as new features and content are added.
Thank you for being part of this community. We’re excited to grow with you.
Mission Statement:
ARID empowers Arkansas interpreters by providing elite professional development, promoting national and state certification, and upholding the highest standards of our craft. We serve as a vital advocate for the rights of both the Deaf community and language professionals, bridging the gap between disciplines through information sharing and a deep respect for Deaf culture.
Vision Statement:
To foster an Arkansas where every interaction is empowered by professional, ethical, and culturally fluent communication, ensuring full equity for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind communities.
Organizational Objective:
The principal objective of ARID shall be to initiate, sponsor, promote, and execute policies and activities that will further the profession of the interpretation of American Sign Language (ASL) and English and the transliteration of English. Responses will be made by the President, Vice-President, Secretary, and/or Treasurer to inquires from the "Contact Us" tab on the ARID website.
Rooted in Connection At ARID, we believe that a strong professional network is the backbone of successful interpreting. We are more than just a registry; we are a statewide family of practitioners, students, and stakeholders. By fostering a sense of belonging across all three Arkansas districts, we create a space where mentors guide novices, peers support one another, and every member feels invested in the collective success of the Deaf and interpreting communities.
Partners in Accessibility Interpreting does not happen in a vacuum. We prioritize working hand-in-hand with the Deaf community, educational institutions, and various professional disciplines to bridge linguistic and cultural gaps. Through these strategic partnerships, we ensure that our advocacy efforts are aligned with the real-world needs of those we serve, proving that we are always stronger and more effective when we work together.
The Heart of Our Craft As language professionals, communication is at the core of everything we do. We are committed to transparency, information sharing, and linguistic excellence. Whether we are disseminating the latest RID/QAST updates or facilitating a complex technical workshop, we strive to model the same clarity, ethical integrity, and cultural fluency in our organizational operations that we bring to our interpreting assignments.
