About Pricilia Mugwa
Pricilia Mugwa is a Master's student in Journalism at the University of Arizona, with a robust academic and professional background in communications and journalism. Her academic journey includes an Associate's degree in Journalism from College of the Canyons and a Bachelor's degree in Communications with a concentration in Journalism from California State University, Bakersfield.
As a member of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME), Pricilia drew inspiration for her Master's project, Women in Mining, from the organization's initiatives and discussions. Her project explores the challenges and opportunities women face in the mining industry, highlighting stories of resilience and progress.
In addition to SME, she is an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE), and the Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ). She also contributes to communication efforts within the African Graduate Student Association (AGSA) at the University of Arizona.
Her areas of focus include investigative journalism, environmental reporting, and multimedia storytelling, with a passion for shedding light on underrepresented narratives and global issues.
