Advice from Ronny Kantor, a participant in WELL for "anyone wanting images that don't belong to anyone should Google "public domain images" and a number of sites will pop up. There are also public domain videos. For specific images, such as a car, one could do a search for "public domain car" or "public domain clipart car". There are also royalty free sound effects.
