About Me
One day after teaching my class of 30 sixth grade students, I said to a colleague, "Wouldn't it be so interesting to study the neuroscience of learning?" That idea stuck with me, and a year later I embarked on my journey to understand how people learn and remember. I began at the University of Texas at Austin and soon entered a doctoral program in Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Arizona in 2019.
I research memory development, memory disorders, and effects of sleep problems on memory. As a former teacher and also a former insomniac, I want to understand how memory can work optimally. I also research the contributions of memory and the hippocampus to complex cognitive functions like creativity and curiosity.
I'm delighted to be joining the faculty at The University of Arizona in August 2024. I'll be teaching courses on cognitive development, cognitive aging, and statistics. Please reach out via email (above) or the socials (below)!
Somewhere in Montana
I love the American west. I grew up in Montana, and my home is now Tucson, Arizona. In my spare time I enjoy swimming, guitar, kayaking, reading, and gardening.
