6th Grade Girls & Boys Choirs (SGC)

The 6th Grade Choirs are the first step in becoming a part of the Argyle Choir family. Students build a strong musical foundation while learning healthy vocal technique, music literacy, performance skills, and what it means to be a member of an outstanding choral program.

These ensembles perform four concerts each year—our Fall Concert, Winter Concert, Spring Concert, and Pop Show—at Gibson Middle School (750 FM 407). Throughout the year, students also enjoy a variety of choir socials and may participate in up to three field trips, including Group Dynamix (September), the Pride of Texas Choral Festival at Pinstack Westlake (April), and Six Flags Friday (May).

Vivace Treble Choir (GMS)

Vivace is an Italian musical term meaning "lively." This ensemble is designed for 7th and 8th grade treble singers who are developing their sight-reading skills, vocal technique, and overall musical confidence.

Vivace performs four concerts each year—the Fall Concert, Winter Concert, UIL Preview Concert, and Pop Show—at Gibson Middle School. Throughout the year, members participate in choir socials, proudly represent GMS at the UIL Concert & Sight Reading Contest, and enjoy two field trips: Group Dynamix (September) and Six Flags Friday (May).

Students are strongly encouraged to enroll in private voice lessons and participate in the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Solo Contest to continue developing their individual musicianship.

Schola Cantorum Tenor-Bass Choir (GMS)

Schola Cantorum is a Latin phrase meaning "School of Singing"—a place where singers develop their musicianship, confidence, and artistry together. This ensemble is designed for talented 7th and 8th grade tenor and bass singers who are ready to challenge themselves and grow as performers.

Schola Cantorum performs four concerts each year—the Fall Concert, Winter Concert, UIL Preview Concert, and Pop Show—at Gibson Middle School. Throughout the year, members participate in choir socials, represent GMS at the UIL Concert & Sight Reading Contest, and enjoy two field trips: Group Dynamix (September) and Six Flags Friday (May).

Fuoco Treble Choir (GMS)

Fuoco is the Italian word for "fire." Members of Fuoco are passionate musicians who strive for excellence in every rehearsal and performance. They are dedicated, hardworking, and committed to putting the success of the ensemble above themselves.

Fuoco performs four concerts each year—the Fall Concert, Winter Concert, UIL Preview Concert, and Pop Show—at Gibson Middle School. Throughout the year, members participate in choir socials, represent GMS at the UIL Concert & Sight Reading Contest, and enjoy two field trips: Group Dynamix (September) and Six Flags Friday (May).

WestWave Pop Choir (GMS)

WestWave is Gibson Middle School's premier auditioned pop ensemble. While it is not an a cappella group like Argyle High School's Remedy, WestWave serves as an outstanding training ground for students who aspire to perform in advanced contemporary vocal ensembles in high school.

Following the Region Choir auditions, all GMS choir students are invited to audition for WestWave by submitting two video recordings: one performance of a pop song of their choice and one performance of their assigned vocal part from a WestWave selection chosen by Mr. Alarcon. Audition materials, practice tracks, and submission instructions will be posted in Google Classroom each November. Audition videos are due immediately following Fall Break, providing students with an entire week to prepare and record their submissions. Late auditions cannot be accepted.

WestWave rehearses on Mondays from 4:00–5:00 p.m. Members perform throughout the community during their annual Holiday Tour in December and are featured performers at the Argyle Choir Pop Show each May.
