The Why?

The purpose of the cell project is to provide the opportunity for students to learn the functions of each organelle through an analogy but in a fun way!  

The Directions:

1. You will make an analogy (a comparison) that shows how the parts of a cell are like something else. For example, you could compare a cell to a school, an office, a shopping mall, or anything you can think of.

2. You will build a model with each cell organelle represented. For example, the wall of a school represents the cell membrane.

3. The materials you use for the model are your choice as long as they will not make a mess or decay. Please make sure that the projects are easy to transport and large enough to see labels. 

4. The model must include the following structures: Cell Membrane, Endoplasmic Reticulum, Mitochondria, Ribosomes, Vacuoles, Lysosomes, Golgi Bodies, Cytoplasm, and Nucleus. If you choose to make a plant cell, Cell Wall & Chloroplasts must be included.

5. Remember to be creative!

6. Have fun and use materials you have at home. Do not spend a lot of money on this.
