Course content
GCSE Business enables students to build an understanding of the business world. The course will help you develop as a decision maker and you will learn essential skills. You will study a range of different businesses from local to national and multinational. The course covers these key areas:

Unit 1 Business in the real world (Background to Business; Business ownership; Expanding a Business)
Unit 2 Influences on Business (Economic, environmental and ethical considerations; Legislation, Technology)
Unit 3 Business Operations (Methods of production, stock control and quality; Choosing suppliers)
Unit 4 Human Resources (Organisational design; Recruitment & Selection process; Motivation and Training)
Unit 2: Influences of marketing and finance on business activity
Unit 1 Business in the real world (as above)
Unit 2 Influences on Business (as above)
Unit 5 Marketing (Market segmentation; Market research; The Marketing Mix)

There is a huge list of future career opportunities: finance, banking or insurance, marketing, HR, etc. The study of business can lead wherever you want it to. A knowledge of business is also important for consultancy, certain teaching jobs and for financial journalists. It's not just for people who want to start their own business!
