Overview
We use a number of IT systems in school: Edulink, Google Classroom, Sparx, Kerboodle.
Below is a very brief description of each system and how to help your child log onto to the main ones.
EDULINK
Homework, achivment points, detentions, the timetable ... Edulink is a source of as lot of useful information. Please also look at the specific webpage advising parents how to download the app and create your own log on. https://sites.google.com/arden.solihull.sch.uk/year-7-transition-website/edulink
If your child is struggling to log on they need to:
Use "Arden" as the school name
Use their school log on in the form 23smithw (for year, surname, initial - for new student Will Smith joining in 2023)
Use the password they created and wrote into thier planner when they first logged onto a school computer
GOOGLE CLASSROOM
Most teachers use Google Classroom to send work and to set assignments. Not all subjects use it as much as others - it obviously depends on the nature of the subject.
Teachers give a code to their students to 'Join a Class'. A code will look something like this: fyjojha
Children must not use Google Classroom as a social media platform.
If your child is struggling to log on they need to:
Open Google, ideally using Chrome
Use their school log on in the form 23smithw@arden.solihull.sch.uk (it is the Edulink log on, turned into an email)
Use the password they created and wrote into thier planner when they first logged onto a school computer
Sparx MATHS
Most maths homework is set on Sparx Maths.
If your child is struggling to log on they need to:
1. Go to sparxmaths.com
2. Select student Login
3. Select school ‘Arden Academy’ then press continue
4. When they log in for the first time, click on ‘New Sparx User?’
5. Enter their details (as they would appear on the register for school or on Edulink, no nicknames) and click submit
6. Choose a password
7. Confirm their username and password (make a note of these) and click Check Your Details
8. Log in to Sparx using the new username and password.
