This is my 3rd year as the School Counselor at Ar-We-Va.
This is my 35th year as a teacher and school counselor!
From 2001-2022 I was a School Counselor at Carroll High School. I taught our concurrent enrollment Psychology 111 course through DMACC. I was the varsity football coach from 2004-2020. I was also the weight room coordinator and junior high track coach. Prior to that I worked at Ankeny Schools from 1997-2001, at Southeast Polk Schools from 1992-1997 and at New London Schools from 1988-1990.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in History Education and my Masters in School Counseling from the University of Northern Iowa.
My wife, Ann, is in her 18th year as a school nurse at Carroll Middle School. Our oldest daughter, Katherine, is a graphic designer for Deksia in Urbandale. She graduated from ISU with a major in Graphic Design. Our other daughter, Grace, graduated from Wartburg College with a double majoring in Public Health and Psychology. She is a Environmental Health Officer in Wateroll. Our son, Joe, graduated in December of 2024 majoring in Forestry. He is the Forester for the Meskwaki Settlement in the Tama/Toledo area.
