About this course

What is this class about?

The Integrated Software course is about using productivity software to complete projects. While you may already know how to write papers using Microsoft Word or Google Docs, there is a lot more to just typing on these applications. The aim of this course is to have you earn your IC3 certification and prepare you for other courses in your high school career.

What are the specifics of this class?

This course is a part of the Career Technical Education (CTE) pathway programs for the state of Ohio. What this means is that this course is a stepping stone to many different pathways while you are in high school. The overarching goal of CTE is to prepare students for careers and education in a technical field. While this course will geared towards computer technology and software, CTE includes career fields such as manufacturing, health science, and marketing. This course will focus specifically on Microsoft Office: Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. The MS Office part part of the IC3 certification test will cover all of the tools and options for the suite of programs.

The Akron Public School district uses the Google Suite of applications for online document creation (Google Drive) and email (Gmail). This course will also be covering many of the G Suite applications. These applications may be used by your other courses, so you will need to know how to use and navigate them.
