We are really getting into the swing of art class now! I am having so much fun creating things with my students. We are really getting into the Halloween mood.
I hope you were able to get needed supplies last weekend from First Energy! It will be great when everyone receives their art supplies at home.
This week, many classes are beginning multiweek projects! Please see their class pages to check on what your student is doing. We are always so busy in art!
Sincerely,
Ms. Lackney

We are really getting into the swing of art class now! I am having so much fun creating things with my students.
Please make sure that you have paper and something to draw with ready on art days! It makes things smoother and maximizes our time together.
This week, kindergarteners are practicing lines. First graders are combining shapes to create some spooky cats. Second grade is finishing our dinosaurs. Third grade is learning about architecture and mood to make a haunted house. Fourth grade is using value to make a pumpkin look 3D. Fifth grade is turning their forced perspective photography into a pop art drawing.
We are always so busy in art!
Sincerely,

What an unusual first week of school! It was wonderful to see everyone's faces and/or hear their voices though! It has been great to meet my new students and reunite with old students.
This coming week, kindergarteners are going to be talking about Mouse Paint and drawing some mice! First graders will be starting to draw the first letter of their name and turning it into an animal. Second grade is breaking down the different shapes in a city to work on a piece inspired by If the Dinosaurs Came Back.
Third graders are creating a pumpkin inspired by Yayoi Kusama's artwork. Fourth graders are thinking about and sketching how to create their own world in a shoebox. Finally, fifth graders are continuing their exploration into digital art and using their camera to create some interesting perspective!
Whew! There may be a lot going one but one thing is for sure, we are having tons of fun in art!
Sincerely,
Ms. Lackney

I am so happy to see everyone back in school! It is really weird to talk to each other over a screen, isn't it?
This week we are practicing coming to art class and what our rules are in virtual art class. We are also looking at the work of Derrick Adams, who is an American artist from Baltimore, MD.
He paints, collages and sculpts different images of ordinary Black Americans having fun and doing different things. We are looking at his series called Floaters that show people having fun on pool floats. I hope we can all get to the pool one more time before it's too cold!
Sincerely,
Ms. Lackney
