This week students should receive some materials for making dioramas. We are looking at dioramas and beginning to cover our boxes with paper.

We are studying images of mound builder artifacts and discussing how they relate to artifacts of our own time. Then, we will talk about what artifacts are needed for and work on planning building our own diorama worlds.

We are beginning the year with art class expectations. Next, we will discuss Derrick Adams' Floaters series of paintings. How do these paintings reflect how we live today? Are the people in them doing something unusual, or something common? Are they working or playing? For independent practice, we will draw something that is fun to do.
