From the National Child Traumatic Stress Network's Framework for Creating, Supporting, and Sustaining Trauma-Informed Schools.
"The school trains staff in social/emotional skills that promote the physical, social, emotional, and academic wellness of all teachers and staff, and support school climate of physical and psychological safety. Additionally, schools identify sources of secondary traumatic stress (STS) for teachers and staff and intervene to mitigate and/or manage stress."
Our schools are asking ourselves the following questions:
What’s our plan for providing ongoing training and support around the signs of secondary traumatic stress and burnout?
What is our support structure for staff, teachers and admin looking for support with self-care?
How do we promote routine health care?
The link to the left is a self-paced refresher or introductory course to the ARC principles that staff will learn and apply in month ARC Training with CHRIS180.
Twice a year we complete an organizational stepback specifically focused on the health and wellness of our staff members through a PBSA Culture Survey and the PBSA Talent Pulse Survey. Here are several summaries below from Spring 2021.

We've parterned with Fuel Ed Schools over the years to provide training in Adult SEL for our staff. Later this year, we will have a three day institute opened up to new-to-PBSA staff members.
We've partnered with the CREATE Teacher Residency at several of our schools. As part of this network, we have access to several phenomenal wellness-focused professional learning series. Check out Fall programming at the links below and let your school leader know if interested.

What supports are available through Employee Assistance Programs?
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP), available via WorkLife Matters through Guardian, is a program that helps people balance the demands of work, life, and personal issues at no cost to the employee. This confidential service provides access to professional counseling and guidance to address stressful life events. Employees and their eligible dependents can speak to a trained professional who will help assess their needs and provide referrals to local resources including psychologists, marriage/family therapists, and substance abuse counselors. Employees and their dependents have telephone access to speak with a clinician 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as well as up to three (3) face-to-face consultations with a licensed clinician per incident, per individual, per calendar year.
