Instructional Technology is designed to provide guidance and support that promotes the incorporation of technology in student learning. This partnership exists between the coordinator, teachers, school administrators and instructional coaches to plan for the integration of technology into all facets of the curriculum and learning environment.
Effective technology integration is a process that takes into account student needs and the positive impact new technology can have on learning. It involves research, planning, introducing, and promoting technology services, events, and programs.
We will consider how technology can be used not just as a way to deliver content and demonstrate mastery of standards, but also to build relationships with students and share with local stakeholders and a global audience the exceptional work of Purpose Built Schools.
Student learning experiences will infuse traditional coursework with instructional technologies based on the standards developed by International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). This framework provides the competencies for learning in the digital age and provides a comprehensive roadmap for effective use of technology in schools worldwide.
The SAMR model helps educators think about the role of technology in supporting learning.
Layering technology into antiquated tasks isn't going to improve the learning experience. But, purposefully altering the substance of these tasks to address the skills students need today - and those they'll need tomorrow - will enhance learning.
Professional learning will be designed to equip teachers with the tools to redefine their pedagogy by utilizing technology to create new tasks that were previously inconceivable with more traditional methods of teaching and learning.
