Science fairs, tech fairs, and esports are integral components in enhancing career readiness and relevance in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). These activities provide students with hands-on, practical experiences that go beyond traditional classroom learning. Participating in science fairs encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication as students present their research and findings. Tech fairs expose students to the latest technological advancements and innovations, fostering a deep understanding of current industry trends and the skills required to succeed in tech-related careers. Esports, with its emphasis on strategy, teamwork, and digital literacy, aligns with the growing field of competitive gaming and related industries, such as game design, programming, and marketing. Together, these activities offer students a platform to apply their knowledge, develop relevant skills, and explore potential career paths in the dynamic and ever-evolving STEAM fields. Additionally, we like to recognize our participants and winners from these events, celebrating their achievements and inspiring their peers to strive for excellence in STEAM.
The WNBA and Microsoft recently came to David T. Howard Middle School to hold an all-girls STEAM workshop! This exciting event provided our students with a unique opportunity to engage with professionals and learn about the vast career possibilities within the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. The workshop featured hands-on activities, inspiring talks, and interactive sessions designed to spark interest and build skills relevant to today's rapidly evolving job market. By collaborating with industry leaders like the WNBA and Microsoft, we aimed to empower our female students, foster their confidence in STEAM disciplines, and enhance their career readiness and relevance. This workshop was a testament to our commitment to providing high-quality, real-world learning experiences that prepare our students for future success.
