Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are off to a fabulous start to the school year! We would like to remind families of the district's expectations regarding student attire to ensure a safe and respectful learning environment.
Footwear: For safety reasons, students should not wear slides, flip-flops, or similar footwear to school. Proper shoes are required to prevent injuries, especially during recess, transitions, and physical activities. This is one of our district policies. Board Policy JCDB: Student Dress Code (Last reviewed: 6/03/2024): Students may not wear flip-flops, athletic slides or any footwear that does not support the front and back of the foot. If your child wears Croc-style shoes, they must be in “sports mode” to support the back of their feet.
Clothing: While the district does not set specific rules regarding the length of shorts or tops (including crop tops), we ask that families remain mindful of how certain clothing may affect students during the school day. Shorter shorts and tops can lead to students unintentionally exposing body parts during movement and physical activity.
We appreciate your support in helping us maintain an environment where students can focus on learning while being appropriately dressed for all activities throughout the school day.Â
Thank you for your partnership.

Our 5th graders are excited to continue an MES Friday tradition—walking to local favorites like Alon’s, Savi, and Casseroles after school!
✨ Quick To-Do: If your child plans to walk, please update their PikMyKid status to “Walker” by Friday morning. If it isn’t updated, they’ll be dismissed following the default plan in the app.
💬 Friendly Reminder: Please chat with your child about being respectful guests at these businesses and cleaning up after themselves. Some locations don’t accept cash, so sending a card may be the safer choice—just be sure they know to keep it secure.
Thank you for helping us start this tradition off on the right foot!
This week our students began lesson in Executive Functioning.Â
