About Mrs. Doucet:
My name is Mrs. Kristy Doucet. I graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2008. This is my 11th year teaching middle school math and my second at PVM!
The best way to contact me is by email at kristy.doucet@apsb.org
About this course:
This class will be based on the Eureka Curriculum. Most of our in class work/notes will be taken in the workbook your student will be given. Each module will build on the previous modules. Therefore, it is important to take all notes, work all problems, ask questions, and try your best!
Class time is valuable and in efforts to not waste time, you are expected to come to class each day prepared to learn. You should always have the following:
sharpened pencil
charged Chromebook
agenda
Eureka workbook
math folder with any given handouts
basic 4 function calculator
My Website:
Mrs. Doucet's Math Spot is my website. On this site, students can find links to the homework calendar, fluency practice, helpful videos, and more.
Homework:
Homework will be given daily. The homework will contain some review material and some new material. It is important to turn homework in completed and on time. Late homework will be accepted for half-credit or for full credit with a late pass (purchased with pride points from the PBIS Store). Homework will be posted on my website. I encourage you to ask for help when working on homework! Email your teacher, ask a family member, ask anyone who can help you. The idea is to learn and grow!
Test corrections will be assigned as homework. Students will be expected to correct missed questions as part of their homework when assigned. They will be provided a test corrections form and are asked to correct up to 5 items missed from their test.
Tests:
Tests will be given at the end of each topic in our Eureka Modules. The tests will be completed online in Pear Assessment. Students are expected to show all work on paper and enter solutions online. Once everyone has completed the test, I will open it for review for test corrections and for studying for benchmark exams. Please see the Pink Team calendar for information on which lessons will be covered on each test as well as test dates.
Quizzes:
The skills found on fluency quizzes are:
adding and subtracting decimals
multiplying and dividing decimals
adding and subtracting fractions
multiplying and dividing fractions (division of fractions is added in Quarter 2)
long division
Quarter 1 and 2 Expectations
All fluency quizzes are averaged together for 1 test grade.
Quarter 3 Expectations
Once a student earns an A, they will not have to take any more fluency quizzes that quarter.
If a student's fluency quiz score improves, it will replace the previous grade.
If a student's fluency quiz score declines, it will not affect the previous grade.
Example: John earns a B on Quiz 1. For Quiz 2, he earns a C. In PowerSchool, his grade for fluency will remain a B. For Quiz 3, he earns an A. This will replace the B for Quiz 1 in PowerSchool, and he will not have to take any more quizzes that quarter.
Quarter 4 Expectations
Once a student earns a 100% A, they will not have to take any more fluency quizzes that quarter.
All fluency quizzes are averaged together for 1 test grade.
Makeups:
If you are absent for any reason, you must get your missed notes from our notes slideshow on The Math Spot. Tests and quizzes may be made up and will be administered upon the student's return. Homework may be turned in early, or turned in immediately upon return from an absence.
