Unit 9

The Revolutionary War

In this unit, we will analyze the war to secure the independence of the newly-formed United States. Though there were some early successes, later battles demonstrated the desperate need for an organized fighting force. Under the leadership of George Washington, the Continental Army persevered and survived despite their lack of supplies and lack of training. We will see how the contributions of foreign allies was vital to the success of the new nation. With the Treaty of Paris 1783, the United States secured its independence from Britain and forged an unprecedented path into uncharted territory, turning the world as they knew it upside down.
