The First workshop will take place September 24-28 in Rabat, Morocco. Daily sessions will take place at the conference room of the Mercure Sheherazade Hotel from 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.
Visas: It is each participant's responsibility to inquire about visa and entry requirements for travel to Morocco. In general, be sure that your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond after your date of departure from Morocco. Please note that APSA will not offer reimbursement for visa fees.
Accommodation: All participants will be accommodated at at the Mercure Sheherazade Hotel . It is located in Hassan neighborhood (check the map) and within walking distance from the historic sites and old city (Kasbah of the Udayas). Participants will be staying in a single nonsmoking room with private bath, daily breakfast and WiFi.
Weather: The weather in September should be pleasant and mostly sunny, with temperatures ranging between 20 and 25 degrees C.
Dress Code: Dress for daily sessions will be 'business casual.'
Money: Morocco's currency is the Dirham (symbolized MAD). US$1=9.5 MAD. Participants' stipends will be given in Dirhams at the beginning of the workshop, to be used for meals and other personal expenses.
1. Full participation in the APSA MENA Workshops in Rabat, Morocco from September 24 to 28, 2018, and in Tunis, Tunisia from January 28 to February 1, 2019.
2. Abiding by the Workshop Code of Conduct.
3. Submitting a First Draft of the workshop paper to the organizers by Friday, August 24, 2018 at 11 PM EST by emailing it to - menaworkshops@apsanet.org
4. Submitting a Final Draft of the workshop paper to the organizers by Friday, December 28, 2018 at 11 PM EST by emailing it to - menaworkshops@apsanet.org
5. Sharing the research in advance with other conference attendees for their review and critical feedback. In return, agreeing to read and review the research papers that I will be assigned. Failing to adhere to the deadlines above could lead to rescinding the invitation to the Tunis workshop.
6. Acknowledge that there are inherent health and safety risks associated with travelling abroad, and understand that I am personally responsible for obtaining all health information, immunizations, and medications appropriate for my personal well-being.
7. Agreeing to hold APSA, its agents and employees, harmless for any and all legal liability for losses, injuries, damages or claims arising out of or in any way related to acts or neglects in connection with the 2018 APSA MENA Workshops, and indemnify APSA against any claims for such losses, injuries or damages.
1. Timely communication and updates throughout the program.
2. Accommodation in a single, non-smoking room with WiFi and daily breakfast for the duration of the workshop.
3. Airport pick-up and drop off in Rabat.
4. Round-trip economy airfare from your nearest international airport. (Please note that you will be responsible for any fees or costs due to changes.)
